I think first and foremost the church must make the official conversion process clear to the media and the people of India. This is clearly not happening. I, for example had a Hindu friend who converted to Catholicism and had to leave India to settle in the US, but he had to sign legal papers which were notarized in the courts of law in the Archdiocese of Delhi when Archbishop Alan De Lastic was the then Archbishop whose approval was sought. So when anyone claims 20000 people were converted ask them to produce the documents via the courts.
