Celebrating SERRA UNITES: Gratitude and Fellowship with Bangalore’s Religious Sisters

In celebration of SERRA UNITES on the 8th of September, the Serrans in Bangalore organized an evening of prayer and fellowship for our Religious Sisters on the 9th of September, as a gesture of gratitude for their tireless and dedicated service to society at various levels.

Around 50 nuns and a few novices from 25 different congregations participated in the event. The sisters of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC) congregation at Seva Nilaya graciously hosted the program at their convent.

The evening began with a time of adoration led by Fr. Anoop C.Ss.R., who guided us through a beautiful hour of prayer, song, and reflection, emphasizing God's presence in the daily challenges of life. This session was both spiritually uplifting and encouraging.

Following the adoration, our President, Anisha Lingham, introduced SERRA and its activities to the participants. Fr. Sandeep Menezes C.Ss.R., our Assistant Chaplain, shared how SERRA Bangalore played a pivotal role in helping him make an informed choice regarding his vocation.

The gathering continued with evening snacks and coffee, fostering a warm atmosphere of fellowship and connection. A fun-filled game of Housie brought joy to everyone, with many sisters winning prizes in both the game and the Lucky Draw.

Below are some of the heartwarming messages of appreciation we received from the participating congregations:

  • "Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Be assured of my prayers. It was a wonderful time." – Sr. Hepsiba, St. Joseph of Lyons

  • "Thank you very much." – Sr. Lily, Congregation of Jesus Mary and Joseph, and Sr. Priscilla, Jyothi Convent – Bethany Sisters

  • "It was well-organized. Father conducted the adoration very well, and all of you took care of every detail. I enjoyed the evening. Thanks to all of you." – Sr. Sagaya, Alphonsus School

"We extend our heartfelt gratitude for organizing such a remarkable gathering. Your dedication and zeal in promoting and fostering vocations are truly inspiring. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:11, 'Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.' Your efforts in nurturing and supporting vocations have strengthened our faith community. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, 'Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.' Your commitment to this noble cause is a testament to your faith. Thank you for creating such a memorable experience. May God bless you abundantly for your service and dedication. Today's gathering meant a lot. Proud of your initiatives and goodness. God bless you and your family abundantly."– Sr. Marguerita, Congregation of St. Charles
