“Evangelizing the Youth is as important as Educating them” – Msgr. C. Francis

Bangalore: August 15th 2019 was a day of many celebrations at St. Patrick’s Church. It encompassed the Feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Virgin Mary, flag hoisting Ceremony and the mega Youth Convention in collaboration with St. Patrick’s church and AFCM.

The Youth Convention was led by Rev Fr Xavier Khan Vattayil, Founder and Directorof the Sehion Ministries (Sehion Retreat Center, Attappady, Kerala) renowned for his proselytizing zeal. The one day Retreat drew an unprecedented crowd of 1600 youth, clamoring with expectations which were surpassed, as indexed in the spiraling enthusiasm and vitality of all present culminating in profound impact.

The Convention started with Counseling Sessions with over 20 Counselors from 9am to 2pm, which was followed by the Retreat scheduled from 2.30 pm – 8.30pm. During the course of the day, the participants took part in praise and worship, listened to talks, made their confessions and engaged in high-energy music and soulful Eucharistic adoration. The Rosary was silently recited through out by a team of volunteers. Intercessory prayers were conducted throughout the Program by the intercessory Team and the intercessory network of the Sehion Ministry, constantly interceding for the various needs.

Monsignor C. Francis, the Parish priest of St. Patrick’s Church said, “The Youth are a pillar of the Church and the Church is the pillar for the Youth. They are the ‘frontline’ leaders. Our Church may focus on evangelizing the Youth more than educating them. God does not call the qualified but qualifies the called.”
