The Archdiocese of Bangalore witnessed a deeply spiritual and solemn celebration of the Chrism Mass, bringing together clergy, religious, and faithful from across the archdiocese. Held in the presence of the Archbishop, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, and Auxiliary Bishops, Most Rev. Dr. Arokiaraj Satis Kumar and Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Susainathan, the liturgy stood as a profound expression of unity, priestly fraternity, and the Church's sacramental life.

Central to the Chrism Mass was the blessing of the Holy Oils—the Oil of the Sick, the Oil of Catechumens, and the Sacred Chrism. These oils, used in sacraments such as baptism, confirmation, anointing of the sick, and ordination, signify the healing, strengthening, and sanctifying power of Christ. The Mass also marked the renewal of priestly promises, where all priests present reaffirmed their dedication to the service of God and His people.

During the homily, Archbishop Peter Machado emphasized the spiritual significance of the day. “Though we may differ in age, background, or responsibilities, we are united in the one priesthood of Christ,” he said. “Today is not only a celebration of the oils but of our shared vocation, our mission, and our deep commitment to be shepherds after the heart of Christ.” His words inspired a renewed sense of purpose among the gathered clergy and laity.

Auxiliary Bishop Arokiaraj Satis Kumar, reflecting on the unity of the clergy and the faithful, remarked, “Your presence today strengthens our faith. It is a reminder that we journey not alone, but as one family, one Church, and one mission rooted in Christ.” He encouraged the priests to remain faithful to their call, especially in today’s challenging world.

Bishop Joseph Susainathan, in his message, highlighted the importance of joyful ministry. “Let us walk together in faith and love, trusting in God's call and blessing. Our ministry finds meaning when we serve with joy and openness, especially among the poor and the suffering,” he said. His message was a call to every priest and layperson to become true instruments of God's mercy.

A special felicitation ceremony followed the Eucharistic celebration, honoring priests who had reached significant milestones in their priestly journey. Rev. Fr. Pius D’Souza was honored on the occasion of his Diamond Jubilee (60 years) of priestly service—a life marked by dedication, simplicity, and unwavering pastoral care. Msgr. C. Francis was felicitated for his 40 years of faithful service to the Archdiocese in multiple pastoral and administrative roles.
Two priests—Fr. Terence Mathew and Fr. Francis Billimoria—celebrated their Silver Jubilee (25 years) and were recognized for their sincere and committed ministry in various capacities. The Archbishop, while honoring them, stated, “We thank you for your selfless service and for being shining examples of Christ’s love. Your lives are testimonies of faith lived in action. You have built communities, carried burdens, and become the face of Christ for many.”
The Chrism Mass concluded with deep gratitude offered by Fr. Arockiaswamy D., the Rector cum Parish Priest of the Cathedral. It was a celebration not only of sacred oils and priestly renewal but also of the enduring witness of those who serve with faith, love, and humility in the vineyard of the Lord.
