Bengaluru, June 22, 2023: The Honorable Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Shri U T Khader paid a cordial visit to Archbishop's Residence in Millers Road and sought the blessings of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangalore the Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado.
Archbishop Machado welcomed the state dignitary and felicitated him warmly. Later Archbishop Machado had a discussion with him.
Shri. J A Kanthraj, PRO and Spokesperson of the Archdiocese of Bangalore was present during U T Khader's visit.
Shri. U T Khader, a four-term MLA representing Mangalore City constituency from the Indian National Congress, was unanimously elected the 23rd Honorable Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in May 2023.
He was the Minister for Health and Family Welfare from 2013 to 2016 in the Siddaramaiah Cabinet and the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies from 2019 to 2020 in the coalition government headed by the then Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. Khader previous served as the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
Earlier this month, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had paid a courtesy visit to Archbishop's House.
