Novena of the Solemnity of the Nativity of Blessed Mother at St. Mary’s Basilica, Shivajinagar, Bengaluru, has commenced from the 29th August, 2022. For decades, it has been the tradition to invite the distinguished Political Leaders, top Police and Government Officials to grace the occasion as Chief Guests. Short spiritual messages are delivered by the Preachers before the blessing and hoisting of Mother Mary’s Flag.
Unfortunately, two years of Covid pandemic crippled our celebrations by the insignificant microscopic virus literally held the entire humanity to its edges. Thanks to the prevailing normal condition which has given us great relief and protection from the untold misery and sufferings. In this background, the Novena to Our Mother Mary is a moment of great significance and thanksgiving for us to glorify God and honour Mother Mary. The first day of the Novena witnessed a sea of humanity converging at the Shrine Basilica braving all odds of inclement weather. It was an impressive sight to behold!
The Nine-day Novena will solemnly end with the Feast of the Nativity of Mother Mary on Thursday, the 8th of September, 2022. On that day, the Feast Day Worship Services will be held from morning till evening.
In order to mark the occasion and to make it a memorable one, we have invited our Hon’ble Chief Minister of the State, Shri Basavaraj Bommai, to inaugurate the Car Procession on 8th September evening.
This morning, a delegation led by Msgr. Fr. C. Francis, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Bangalore; Very Rev. Fr. Martin Kumar, Rector and Parish Priest, St. Mary’s Shrine Basilica; Rev. Fr. Cyril Victor, Director -Archdiocese Communications Centre; and J. A.
